Dry Needling
Dry Needling uses acupuncture needles to release and loosen tight muscles and surrounding tissue.
The primary goal of dry needling is to desensitise supersensitive structures (the trigger points) and restore motion and function of the affected muscle group.
The benefits of dry needling can be immediate relief of pain.
- By relaxing tight muscles,
- Removing source of irritation by needling the shortened paraspinal muscles,
- Promotes healing – dry needling produces minimal local inflammation which, in turn, stimulates the body’s own healing process,
- Decreases spontaneous electrical activity at Trigger Points.
- Tennis elbow,
- Chronic hip pain (bursitis),
- Shin splints,
- Chronic neck and back pain,
- Frozen shoulder,
- Achilles tendonitis.
These chronic pain syndromes seem to arise and persist in the absence of any detectable injury or inflammation.
